When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father John 15:8 NLT.
Dear Beloved, Isn’t it a wonderful thing to know the Lord and to be loved by the Lord. To have the confidence that even though we may we die in this life, He has promised to raise us up with Him. John 11:25-26 NIV says “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. What a joy to know that in Him we have eternal life.
Indeed, It is encouraging to have such a hope in the midst of a dark and troublesome world. Paul in his letter to the Colossians says in Colossians 1:9-10 NIV For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. Believers are called to live their lives in bearing fruit for the kingdom of God as they grow in the knowledge of the Lord. As one grows in understanding of the Lord one becomes more aware of God’s will. The will of God is for none to perish, but for all to come to repentance. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance 2 Peter 3:9 ESV. And to know him and his son Jesus Christ of whom their is eternal life. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent John 17:3 ESV. Our lives are meant to be a ministry unto this broken world. Beloved, we are called to be a reflection of his character in this life and through our obedience, God can save many. We are called to witness to those around us God’s love and truth for glory of God. wouldn’t it be selfish to hold on to such good news only to ourselves, and not share it with others due to fear or rejection?
Lord Jesus died for all of our sins, so that we may be saved. I believe that he desires that we share that same gospel with others, for how would a lost world hear of the good news if not through willing vessels? Romans 10:14 ESV says How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? The gospel has the power to save, but it can only work if we do our part and Lord Jesus said GO! Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 ESV.
Lets look at a few books in the Bible about Jesus for reference:
- John 14:6 NLT Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
- 1 John 2:2 NLT He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins-and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
- Romans 3:23-24 ESV for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
- Romans 6:23 ESV For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
- Romans 10:13 NLT For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
- Romans 10:9-10 NLT If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
- 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 NLT And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
By now we already know that the only way to eternal life is through repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ alone, the only name in Heaven and Earth of whom we can be saved. Acts 4:12 ESV And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Lets now look at what the Bible says about bearing fruit for the kingdom of God.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you John 15:16 NIV
- Luke 3:9 NIV The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
- John 15:1-2 NIV “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
- John 15:4 NIV Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
- John 15:5-8 NLT “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
- Romans 10:14-15 NLT But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
- Ezekiel 3:17-21 NLT “Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately. If I warn the wicked, saying, ‘You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths. If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me. “If righteous people turn away from their righteous behavior and ignore the obstacles I put in their way, they will die. And if you do not warn them, they will die in their sins. None of their righteous acts will be remembered, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn righteous people not to sin and they listen to you and do not sin, they will live, and you will have saved yourself, too.”
Be encouraged, dear brethren to continue in the work of the Lord, walk in love, endure and plant seeds, in the workplace, at home, with family and all around you for the God of the Harvest will send some to water it and some to harvest. Be blessed and may God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ keep you in peace that surpasses all understanding through Christ our Lord. Amen!
